Alex Caruso Clarifies ‘Real Ring’ Comments After Viral Reaction

Caruso

Alex Caruso has addressed his comments about getting a ‘real ring’ after upsetting a few Lakers fans.

“Now I got a real one,” Caruso jokingly said to reporters after OKC’s 103-91 Game 7 win over the Pacers. “Now nobody can say anything.”

The Thunder guard later took to social media and clarified his comments, stating that he was being sarcastic when throwing shade at the 2020 title – which many claim to be a ‘mickey mouse’ ring, since it was won in the 2020 COVID bubble during a shortened season.

Caruso reflected on the different challenge he faced with this OKC team compared to the Lakers team.

“I think just because of the way the team is constructed now versus the team I had in 2020, it was much harder with this team just because of the experience [level],” Caruso said, via Chuck Schilken of the Los Angeles Times. “I think through the playoffs, this team grew up and learned on the fly. Most teams have to learn through losses and learn through defeat, and I think this team learned through success. And it’s a unique capability to be able to do that for 21 to 27-year-old kids.”

“For me, I’ve seen greats do it, so I knew the way, I knew the mindset. But to see these guys do it, man, it’s really cool to see it in person, and I’m so happy for the guys just to be able to figure it out and be able to get this done.”
