Rays 3, Blue Jays 1: Fortune Favors the Bald

The Tampa Bay Rays have won they’re second straight game against a left-handed starting pitcher.

Coming into tonight’s contest, the Rays were last in the American League and 29th out of 30 teams in team OPS against southpaws.

To get the scoring going, Brandon Lowe stroked a two-run shot in the third inning.

Curtis Mead provided some thunder from down under himself with a solo blast in the fourth. It’s the second in as many games for the Adelaide, Australia native

Drew Rasmussen, who had been given more length on the leash after having his third major elbow surgery last season, provided his second straight scoreless outing that was six innings or longer.

Pete Fairbanks snags the save, and the Rays (24-26), are set to take on the Toronto Blue Jays (25-25) tomorrow at 7:05 PM EST under the lights at George M. Steinbrenner Field.

The probable starting pitchers are Shane Baz (3-3, 5.33 ERA) opposite Jose Berrios (1-1, 4.19 ERA) for Toronto.
