Michigan HC Sherrone Moore provides update on QB battle

Sherrone Moore has a big decision on his hands as he heads into year two as the official head coach of the Michigan Wolverines.

He went 8-5 in year one with a win over Alabama in a bowl game. If the Wolverines weren’t just coming off winning the College Football Playoff championship the season before, it may have been seen as a successful first campaign for Moore.

Instead, it seemed a bit underwhelming, though back-to-back wins over Ohio State and Alabama to end the season certainly left fans happy.

Michigan found out that a starting quarterback can make or break you over these past two seasons, and Moore will eventually have to name a starter between true freshman Bryce Underwood, sophomore Jadyn Davis and Fresno State senior transfer Mikey Keene.

It’s still spring, so there’s no rush for Moore to announce anything. In fact, he was clear with J.D. PicKell of On3 that the decision will likely be made in fall camp.

That doesn’t mean spring ball doesn’t matter, though.

“I feel like it usually carries into fall camp. All the real good battles that I’ve been a part of. You can say something in spring, but it changes, so we’re gonna take our time with the process of who that person is,” Moore said.
