Atlanta had their chances all weekend to either split or even win their big weekend series against the Phillies.
But some questionable managerial decisions and the inability to convert run scoring opportunities resulted in the Braves losing three our of four to Philadelphia, including a brutal 3-2 loss in extra innings on Sunday.
The end result is the Phillies standing in a very strong position to secure the NL East division title while Atlanta’s lead for the final NL Wild Card position is down to one game over the Mets.
Fortunately, the Braves have a needed off-day on Monday. Furthermore, the schedule once again gets a bit easier of the next nine games, and Atlanta plays 11 of their next 13 contests at home. But the Braves have no choice but to put this weekend behind them and get back to winning games if they hope to remain in position to make the postseason.
