New York Giants’ Daniel Jones likely to start vs. Houston Texans

With the New York Giants’ quarterback situation changing by the day, head coach Brian Daboll revealed that Daniel Jones is likely to start when the Giants visit the Houston Texans next Saturday afternoon.

It will be Jones’ first live game action since tearing his ACL in Las Vegas last November 5.

Daboll said he would give the starters extra work in practice this week in preparation for the game. Center John Michael Schmitz (shoulder) is back practicing and right tackle Evan Neal came off the physically unable to perform (PUP) list on Sunday.

Tight ends Lawrence Cager and Jack Stoll have also been cleared to resume practicing.

As for quarterback depth, with the injury to primary backup Drew Lock, Daboll said there was no plan to add another quarterback at the moment.

Tommy DeVito moves up to the No. 2 role and Tyree Jackson — who is in camp as a tight end — will be the emergency quarterback. Jackson was a quarterback in college at the University of Buffalo.
