Dodd made his major league debut with the Braves last season but has spent most of his time in 2024 at Gwinnett where he has a 4.85 ERA and a 4.61 FIP in 91 innings across 19 appearances. He will give Atlanta a fresh arm out of the bullpen for the next few days. This will be Dodd’s second stint on the active roster this season, but he has yet to make an appearance.
The Braves went with Elder Tuesday to give the rest of the rotation an extra day of rest. He faced the Brewers in Milwaukee last week and pitched well allowing one run over 6 1⁄3 innings while recording seven strikeouts. He found himself in trouble early Tuesday though and didn’t make it out of the fourth inning after allowing seven runs in just 3 2⁄3 innings.
