Giants’ Malik Nabers the top training camp rookie standout

The New York Giants wrapped up their second week of training camp on Sunday and there’s been one consistent theme over their nine practices: Rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers is a stud.

The first-round pick has wowed onlookers and impressed his teammates with dazzling one-handed catches and big plays down the field reminiscent of another LSU stud, Odell Beckham Jr.

“He’s confident in his work. He has great hands, explosive, not only that, he can run routes. And he’s big, physical. Run after catch. He can do all of it,” Jalin Hyatt said of Nabers last week. “I’m just proud of what he has done, we all need to keep working, keep doing what we have to do but proud that we got him.”

Nabers hasn’t just caught the attention of those in East Rutherford, but those around the league as well. The NFL has shared video of his impressive practice performances on a number of occasions and now others analysts are also beginning to take note.

Cody Benjamin of CBS Sports recently named Nabers the top training camp standout among rookies, including Marvin Harrison Jr., who was taken ahead of the LSU star in the 2024 NFL draft.

1. Giants WR Malik Nabers

While Harrison went ahead of Nabers in the first round, it’s hard to say any rookie has single-handedly added more electricity to his team’s offense than the splashy LSU product. Hardly a day goes by without Nabers securing a highlight-reel grab, either going deep or working the sidelines, and it’s easy to forecast him opening 2024 as Daniel Jones’ No. 1 target … by a long shot.

Nabers has been everything the Giants expected and more thus far, and he’s only beginning to scratch the surface of his potential.

So long as he can continue building a rapport with quarterback Daniel Jones, getting the offense down, and adjusting to NFL speed, the sky is the limit for Nabers.
