There has been a bit of a lingering question of when Atlanta Braves starter and top prospect Hurston Waldrep would pop back up, after he went down with an elbow injury and June and hasn’t seen any updates since. This came just a few days after Jimmy Herget was placed on the injured list with shoulder inflammation and he too has not been heard of since. On Tuesday the Braves announced that both will be heading to the Florida Complex League, whose season ends on Thursday, to begin their rehabilitation assignments.

Prior to his injury Waldrep had struggled in two major league starts, and was on his way back down to Gwinnett before he felt more soreness than normal following the second of those starts. Because of this I would expect Waldrep to still be optioned to Gwinnett when he returns, though this will place him on Atlanta’s carousel of starters. Herget has had a solid season in a limited run in Atlanta, with a 3.68 ERA and 4.10 FIP, though he spent most of his time between the Angels and Braves in Triple-A.
