HBO and NFL Films presented Episode 2 of “Hard Knocks: Offseason with the New York Giants” on Tuesday night and it proved to be a fascinating look into the world of pre-draft scouting and NFL Combine interviews.
But there was much more packed into the 40-minute episode, including the slow build to Saquon Barkley’s departure and the Brian Burns trade, as well as New York’s interest in specific free agents and their internal thoughts on their own impending free agents.
There was a lot to digest and process, which is why the social media reaction looked a lot like scattershot.
Here are some of the best or most notable reactions to Episode 2:
First takeaway: the staff from the GM down to the scouts believes the temperament to play in the New York City market is vital to succeeding in the organization.#HardKnocks

“Hard Knocks” tweet.
Maybe I’m too deep in the media weeds, but I found the convo between the GIants GM and the Sr. Director of Football Communications fascinating.
Never get to see the press conference planned out like that.

Did anyone really think Saquon wanted to be a #nyg for life! Welp, 20 seconds into that call u can tell he was not coming back! #HardKnocks

Saquon sounded like he wanted no part of coming back tbh

Man the Giants really tried to make Jayden Daniels look bad with this episode of Hard Knocks????

The Xavier McKinney discussions in the second episode of Giants Hard Knocks are fascinating. Joe Schoen and his staff like McKinney but don’t believe they have a real shot at keeping him … even after the cap came in at $255.4M.
Obviously, they were right about the latter part.

Really came away impressed with Marvin Harrison, Jr. on Hard Knocks episode 2. Would NOT throw his QB under the bus. He also knew there was no way he was slipping to 6th overall. Stud.

Schoen and Saquon not friends

After #Giants GM Joe Schoen said he wants to tell the #Patriots he’s interested in trading for pick 3, I didn’t get the feeling the Pats were even REMOTELY interested in trading it from that convo. And that was in February.
So enough with “they didn’t offer enough” #HardKnocks— Dan Schneier (@DanSchneierNFL) July 10, 2024
Brandon Brown truly gets what’s wrong with the New York Giants.
“Name me a dominant player at that position (WR) that was a choir boy, Nabers gives us something we simply do not have”
BINGO.
Too many “Good kids” and not enough dawgs.#Giants100 pic.twitter.com/vnod3DchXJ

I cannot escape the thought of how funny this Hard Knocks series would be if it was Dave Gettleman and Joe Judge ????????????

I wish Schoen wouldn’t have kept saying the “data” stuff with Saquon. They needed to allocate to fill needs and there’s nothing wrong with that. No way they were paying a back 12 with all their needs. Nothing wrong with saying that.

that episode was much better than the first
Love the player interviews at the combine and hearing Schoen talk directly with Saquon #HardKnocks #Giants

I see why the rumors of them wanting Drake Maye were on the table. Seems to be a very smart player.

That episode was AWESOME

Pretty clear in this episode that, if Giants did not deal for Brian Burns, they were going to go strong for Christian Wilkins.

Half the #hardknocks episode was dabs tryna convince the world he can run under a 7 ???????? he would not let it go… he gotta just go do it now LOL @Giants

Super impressed at Odunzes responses in this Giants Hard Knocks. Gonna be a guy I’m going to want to root for, it seems.

All of the scouts/assistant GMs in Hard Knocks seem like very awkward, strange guys
