For nearly the entire 2023 season, Georgia appeared to be a near-lock for the College Football Playoff and a contender to win its third straight national title. However, a shocking loss to Alabama in the SEC Championship game derailed those plans, and the Bulldogs failed to make it into perhaps the most competitive playoff field yet.
This season, head coach Kirby Smart is bringing back most of his core, and in a new-look SEC, Georgia will look to re-establish its dominance.
Here are the top three Georgia prospects to watch ahead of the NFL Draft, which begins on April 24, 2025:
Carson Beck | Quarterback
ESPN’s Matt Miller on Beck: “A big arm and great processing speed”
Prospect ranking: Pro Football Focus (No. 11), Tankathon (No. 4), Pro Football Network (No. 7)
Beck isn’t the top Georgia prospect in a vacuum in terms of pure ability, but he’s the most likely Bulldog to go highest in the first round due to the value of the position he plays.
In the 2024 NFL Draft, Caleb Williams became the sixth quarterback in seven years to go first overall, a trend that shouldn’t turn around anytime soon as the league continues to highly value elite passers.
The 2025 QB class isn’t as good as some we’ve seen in recent years, so Beck — who has a strong arm and plays mistake-free football (six interceptions last season) with a winning, pro-style team — could be head and shoulders above the rest of the field.
Beck certainly has an NFL frame at 6-foot-4 and 220 pounds, and he looked ready for the job early on as he replaced two-time national champion Stetson Bennett at quarterback for Georgia.
