Razzball Commenter Leagues, Week 14, 2024 Fantasy Baseball
About halfway through week 14 marked our midpoint of the fantasy baseball season. We tend to celebrate the halfway mark at the All-Star break, but this is actually our halfway point for stat purposes. That means you should be sitting around 700 IP right now if you plan to max out, or at the very least, you should have 500 IP so you don’t take zeros in pitching. The halfway point also lined up very nicely with the end of the month which means we get halfway point Master Standings! Who is leading the way at the halfway point? Scroll on down to see that and the rest of the stats from the week that was, week 14.
Each week we’ll peek in at our resident ‘perts to see who is laying claim to best “expert” RCLer in the land. We’ll take notes, check the standings and generally stalk them. The heading is also hyperlink, so feel free to follow along as we go.
Mike C held fast to keep the top spot at the halfway point of the season. Son fell back a bit this week, losing four points, but B_don picked up the slack, gaining 6.5 points and moving into second. The biggest gainer this week was MarmosDad, who picked up 11 points to crawl out of the cellar and into seventh. Marmos led the league in Runs, HRs, and RBI this week while co-leading in wins. Going the other way was Coolwhip who fell to ninth and lost seven points.
Each week we’ll also take a look at the top ten overall standings in our other Razzball sponsored league, the RazzSlam. This is our NFBC Best Ball league with managers from all across the industry, from content providers to fans and readers just like you.
One week left for your team to make a move in Razzslam before the first cutline. My team moved into fourth in my league just in the nick of time and I’m hoping I can hang on. Apparently losing Acuna was a boost for this squad. The overall top ten retained all the same teams but one, Greg Shirron managed to bump Rick Graham. TimF’s team made the biggest leap this week, just in time. They gained an amazing 800 points on the week and moved up 67 places to 70th overall.

Our halfway leaders! I have added a new column so you can see the movement of the top teams. Huge props to Capital Offense who made the biggest leap of the past month, gaining 227 spots, taking over the lead in ECFBL, and launching themselves into the top ten overall. That’s one impressive month! Rloyod is currently kicking mine and everyone else’s butts in RCL 24 and now sits atop the RCL universe. It will be interesting to see if RCL 24 can maintain a good enough LCI to keep rloyod in the hunt.

Four deals this week with three trades straight up for closers as teams look to make a move in saves. I’m looking to unload Finnegan where I can and starting to stash Harvey just in case. Maikel has really cooled since the start of the season, but I’m banking on that KC park factor helping him out this summer. The other deal was a whopper! I think I like the Westburg side, but I’ve gone back and forth on that answer, which means it’s a very even trade.
WEEKLY LEADERS
The best of the best from the week that was.
R – 64 – Gunk Squad (RCL 13)
HR –24 – Ghost of Cito Gaston (RCL 3)
RBIs – 76 – Finkelstein Ballers (RCL 7) & Risk It for the Biscuit (RCL 11)
SB – 17 – Bayou Crawdads (RCL 25)
AVG – .325 – Coney Island Cyclones (RCL 23)
K – 96 – Bibee Broken Bieber Bumpers (RCL 24)

SV – 9 – 4 Teams Tied
ERA (Min. 40 IP) – 0.92 – Norm_Cash (RCL 33) (in 49 IP)
Two teams busted the RBI weekly record for the year this week hitting 76. We also had one more team join the three-way tie for the HR lead. Otherwise, all was quiet, but it’s nice to see hitting coming on strong. Speaking of, VinWins had some analysis of the week and the month of June for you all.
For the week:
29 teams had an ERA under 2.
25 teams had an ERA over 6.
22 teams hit under .200
33 teams hit over .300.
For the month:
5 teams had a WHIP under 1 in 170 + IP
28 teams had an ERA under 3.
The average BATTING AVERAGE was .258
Last month those numbers were 12/75/.244 so hitting gained on pitching in June.
DFresh had 3 teams in the top 20 for June (Vin and I combined for three less than that across all our teams). For more info on the best teams in the month of June, you can check out Vin’s page, HERE.
TEAM OF THE WEEK
Our weekly shout out to the team that killed it the previous week.
Summary: Hometown Hero had a heroic week all around! They gained six points to move up 90, and moved from 4th to 3rd in RCL 8. 90 Points should be good enough for first in most leagues, but RCL 8 is a little skewed thanks to a team totally abandoning ship early on over a disputed vetoed trade. The trade in question? Gerrit Cole for Nico Hoerner back on March 6th, a few days before Cole was sent for an MRI. In hindsight, this trade should have just gone through. oh well. The team rage quit the league after dropping Hoerner and HH had the highest waiver priority and benefitted from the drop. Aaron Judge led the offense, hitting .524 with three home runs and twelve RBI. Sal Perez also hit three homers. Bryce Harper chipped in a couple more home runs before heading to the IL. Jose Altuve and Nico Hoerner each added three steals. Taj Bradley paced the pitching staff with 19 Ks in 11 IP and ratios of 0.82/1.00. Seth Lugo was just as impressive (18 K/12 IP, 0.00/0.75). Four different relievers earned saves, with Carlos Estevez recording two.
The Tampa Bay Lightning have acquired forward Michael Milne from the Minnesota Wild in exchange for forward Boris Katchouk. Additionally, the Syracuse Crunch have acquired
