The Atlanta Braves are facing the Seattle Mariners in the final game of the series in hopes of ending their two-game skid.
They will be facing Emerson Hancock who is a rookie RHP. None of the players on the Braves’ roster have faced Hancock before, but he struggles with giving up hard contact which could be a good matchup in the Braves’ favor.
Since Hancock is a RHP, it should have been no shock that the Braves went with their typical lineup against RHPs. They typically would go with the same lineup as they did last night. It would have been fun to see Kelenic be a hero against his former team, and today could would be his last chance this season unless they face the Mariners in the playoffs. However, that is not the case. Duvall will be getting the start in LF today, as well as Tromp getting the start behind the dish.
The Braves’ big three in Riley, Olson, and Acuña have struggled mightily by their standards so far this season, so what better day than today to get things rolling?
Only three hitters on the Mariners have faced Chris Sale, even though he has been in MLB since 2010. Mitch Haniger and Mitch Garver both have faced him in six at-bats each, and both have a .000 average against him. Jorge Polanco has had the most success against Sale with a .308 average and .718 OPS in thirteen at-bats. Garver will not be getting the start against Sale. Cal Raleigh will DH and Seby Zavala will be catching. Neither of them have faced Sale before.
Seattle has a wRC+ of 83 against LHP this season which places them 25th in MLB.
