There are “no guarantees” that Lonzo Ball will suit up this 2022-2023 season for the Chicago Bulls, Adrian Wojnarowski relayed on NBA Countdown this Wednesday.

Wojnarowski noted that Ball remains rehabbing and feeling some pain in his knee. The Bulls are hoping that he’ll be available to play by the All-Star break, but this will depend on how the team will fare on the standings from the said targeted event.

“I think the hope is that, perhaps by the All-Star break in mid-February, they have a sense of whether Lonzo Ball is ready to come back and play for Chicago,” Wojnarowski said. “A lot of that may depend on where are the Bulls in the standings.”

Chicago remains out of the postseason picture and dwelling on an 11-15 record. As Woj elaborated, there are some decisions to be made around the team should they won’t improve.

Ball is yet to make his season debut after he underwent a September surgery to address pain in his left knee. Last season, he only played 35 games due to his January arthroscopic surgery in which his small meniscus tear didn’t respond well.

The absence of the former no. 2 pick is truly stinging the Bulls. Amid their point guard depth of Ayo Dosumnu, Coby White Alex Caruso, and Goran Dragic taking their parts to shoulder the ball handling and distribution responsibility, the club is still struggling and yet to get over the hump this season.
