With hours remaining until the NFL draft, Schoen called New England Patriots executive director of player personnel Eliot Wolf to get a sense of what they’d be looking for in a trade.
It never appeared close to happening.
“I think we’re pretty happy sitting here, picking…” Wolf said before throwing out unrealistic trade suggestions.
It would have taken an all-time record haul for the Giants to move up from No. 6 to No. 3 and Schoen never once seemed interested in entertaining that.
“It would probably have to be something pretty significant,” Wolf added.
Schoen attempted one final time to gauge exactly what it would cost, asking if the No. 6 overall pick, a 2025 first-round pick, and additional 2024 draft assets would be enough.
It wouldn’t.
“We’re in this situation where we just probably sit and pick a quarterback,” Wolf said.
