3 reasons for optimism in Week 7

Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports

It’s becoming a little repetitive but how can you not have Saquon Barkley as one of your reasons for optimism? The fifth-year running back is still leading the NFL in scrimmage yards (771) and is having the most productive year of his career.

If the season ended today, Barkley would have career high in rushing yards per game (102.7), yards per attempt (5.2), and catch percentage (80.8%). The Penn State product has been on another level this season and it does not only show up on the stat sheet.

Barkley could have easily recorded his fifth touchdown of the season against the Baltimore Ravens as he juked several defenders to have a wide open lane to the endzone. However, he instead decided to play it safe and slide down to ensure the Giants their fifth win of the season.

This is the difference between him and other elite running backs like Nick Chubb — all Barkley does is win.
