On the first day of the 2024 NFL draft, the New York Giants passed on multiple quarterbacks (after attempting to trade up for one) in favor of LSU wide receiver Malik Nabers, who was selected with the No. 6 overall pick.
On Day 2, the Giants will have two selections (pending a possible trade) — one in Round 2 (No. 47) and one in Round 3 (No. 70). With those picks, they are likely to continue addressing their many areas of need, namely cornerback, safety and/or offensive line. They could also target an interior defender, tight end, or quarterback.
Don’t sleep on a running back, either.
Here’s a quick look at 20 players who could, potentially, be considered targets for the Giants over the next two rounds.

The Giants spent some time with Max Melton during the pre-draft process and the local product would fill an obvious hole. He also plays on special teams, which is a bonus.

Andru Phillips is another player the Giants met with during the pre-draft process. He’s very versatile, and capable of playing nearly every position in the secondary.

Cooper DeJean is another versatile option in the secondary. He can play cornerback and some safety, and is among the best-tackling defensive backs available.

T.J. Tampa is a little more on the developmental side but he has the potential to become a valuable starter long-term.

Many expected Kool-Aid McKinstry to go in Round 1 and it seems unlikely he’ll fall to the Giants in Round 2. His minor slide is the direct result of foot surgery following the NFL Combine.

Cam Hart is one of the most athletic defensive backs available and would be an ideal fit for Shane Bowen’s zone-focused scheme (assuming he goes heavy zone in 2024).
Jay Biggerstaff-USA TODAY Sports
Ennis Rakestraw Jr. played safety in college but may be better suited for safety in the NFL. That’s good news for the Giants, who need both.
James Snook-USA TODAY Sports
Jaden Hicks is a big-hitting safety who drew interest from the Giants during the pre-draft process. They hosted him on a 30 visit.
Matt Krohn-USA TODAY Sports
Tyler Nubin is a solid tackler and run defender. He was frequently mocked to the Giants in Round 2.
Rich Storry-USA TODAY Sports
Kamren Kinchens could have been a first-round pick if not for his poor athletic testing during the pre-draft process.

Christian Haynes is a talented guard and could be exactly what the Giants need. He could start (or at least see time) as a rookie and many believed Haynes would have been a Round 1 pick.
Michael C. Johnson-USA TODAY Sports
Guard Cooper Beebe has a high floor and met with the Giants on a top-30 visit. He was mocked to the Giants often, including here on Giants Wire.
Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports
If the Giants decide to go with a tackle over a guard, Patrick Paul is an intriguing Day 2 option.
Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports
Johnny Newton is a talented inside pass rusher who met with the Giants on a top-30 visit ahead of the draft.
Ken Ruinard-USA TODAY Sports
If the Giants want a versatile defensive lineman capable of playing inside and outside, the Nigerian-born Ruke Orhorhoro could be that guy.
Matt Pendleton/Gainesville Sun
The Giants didn’t show much pre-draft interest in running backs with the exception of Trey Benson. He’d be an ideal addition to the current RB committee.
Jay Biggerstaff-USA TODAY Sports
With Darren Waller’s future uncertain, the Giants could go tight end. There may be none better or more versatile than Ben Sinnott in this draft.
Matthew Hinton-USA TODAY Sports
Don’t sleep on the very athletic Ja’Tavion Sanders. He’s not the best blocker on the planet but that’s probably not how the Giants would use him anyway.
Vasha Hunt-USA TODAY Sports
If the Giants remain desperate to grab a quarterback, Spencer Rattler is arguably the best left. He has solid arm talent but is a developmental player.
Morgan Tencza-USA TODAY Sports
If Rattler isn’t the Giants’ cup of tea, Jordan Travis could likely be had in Round 3. He’s another developmental talent but there’s undeniable upside.
