Draft capital does not guarantee fantasy success, but it tells us which teams are investing premium resources into players they expect to build around.
This breakdown looks at every fantasy-relevant 1st Round rookie from the 2026 NFL Draft, including their landing spot, early depth chart outlook, projected rookie draft value, and what each pick means for SuperFlex, 1QB, and PPR dynasty formats. From immediate-impact options like Jeremiyah Love, Makai Lemon, and Carnell Tate to longer-term dynasty bets like Ty Simpson and Kenyon Sadiq, these landing spots will shape rookie drafts all offseason.

First Round Rookies for Dynasty
Las Vegas Raiders – Fernando Mendoza QB (1st Pick)
As predicted all offseason, the Raiders selected their franchise quarterback in Fernando Mendoza. It was a move Las Vegas needed to make in order to improve a bottom-10 offense from a year ago. Mendoza will have plenty of talent around him to succeed, including Brock Bowers, Ashton Jeanty, and likely another offensive weapon added later in this draft.
There are reports that Kirk Cousins could start the entire season, but don’t let that sway you from selecting Mendoza if you are a quarterback-needy dynasty manager. He could easily start Week 1 and be a low-end QB2 as a rookie. Mendoza has the arm talent to throw the ball all over the field and enough mobility to add points with his legs.
Projected Rookie Draft Selection: 1.02–1.03
Arizona Cardinals – Jeremiyah Love RB (3rd Pick)
The Cardinals were not bluffing when they said they were going to take the best player available in the draft, selecting running back Jeremiyah Love. Love brings an elite skill set to an Arizona offense that needed more explosiveness and high-end talent out of the backfield. Clearly, this coaching staff wanted to add dynamic playmakers, and they did just that.
This does create some questions in the backfield after signing Tyler Allgeier and still having James Conner on the roster, along with former second-round pick Trey Benson. However, this situation should likely develop into a two-headed monster, similar to what we’ve seen with the Detroit Lions’ backfield over the last few seasons.
Love should be able to produce top-12 PPR value as a rookie while splitting work in Year 1. A crowded backfield should not scare you away from taking him early in rookie drafts, as the talent and long-term upside are simply too strong to ignore.
Projected Rookie Draft Selection: 1.01
Tennessee Titans – Carnell Tate WR (4th Pick)
After plenty of mock drafts expecting Jeremiyah Love to land in Tennessee, the Titans decided to still give their young quarterback, Cam Ward, help at wide receiver by selecting Carnell Tate. Tate should quickly step in as the team’s WR1 on the outside. He is a smooth and efficient receiver who consistently finds ways to get open, which should greatly benefit Ward and the passing game.
As for Tate, the overall offense is still somewhat of a question mark in terms of how much progress Tennessee can make in 2026, but the signs are pointing in the right direction. Tate should likely provide WR3 value as a rookie, with long-term WR1 upside in dynasty formats. Ohio State receivers have consistently translated well to the NFL, and that should give dynasty managers confidence when investing in Tate early.
Projected Rookie Draft Selection: 1.02–1.04 (Lemon & Tate are very close)
New Orleans Saints – Jordyn Tyson WR (8th Pick)
The Saints decided they needed to find a playmaker opposite Chris Olave and selected Jordyn Tyson. Tyson definitely comes with injury concerns, which will be something dynasty managers need to consider when drafting him. However, he is a true playmaker with strong route-running ability and elite quickness. His ability to separate should be a major boost for Tyler Shough and the passing game.
Tyson should have plenty of opportunities for targets as a rookie, especially considering Olave’s injury history and the fact that tight end Juwan Johnson finished second on the team in targets last season with 102. Tyson could easily step in and earn around 80 targets as a rookie, though the injury concerns still create some red flags.
The upside is there for Tyson to provide WR4 value as a rookie, with stretches of the season where he could produce at an even higher level if the volume and health break his way.
Projected Rookie Draft Selection: 1.05–1.06
Los Angeles Rams – Ty Simpson QB (13th Pick)
A shocker at the NFL Draft came when the Los Angeles Rams selected Ty Simpson, even with one of the top three wide receivers still on the board. Still, the move makes a lot of sense for the long-term future of the franchise. Simpson has plenty of upside as a passer, but with only 15 career starts, he lacks experience and still needs development.
The good news is he will be able to sit and learn behind Matthew Stafford for at least one season, which could be the ideal situation for his growth. Landing in Sean McVay’s system gives Simpson strong long-term dynasty appeal.
Do not expect Simpson to help your fantasy team in 2026. I’d say there is still a real chance he may not even start in 2027 depending on how long Stafford continues to play. That makes Simpson one of the more difficult evaluations in rookie drafts.
The landing spot is excellent for his development, but the wait could be long. Some dynasty managers may let him fall because of the delayed production, while others will be intrigued enough by the upside and first-round draft capital to still take the shot.
Projected Rookie Draft Selection: 1.09 – 2.02 (huge range based on team need)
New York Jets – Kenyon Sadiq TE (16th Pick)
Outside of Ty Simpson, this may have been the second biggest shocker of the draft. The Jets did not appear to have a major need at tight end after drafting Mason Taylor in the second round last year, but they clearly believed in Kenyon Sadiq’s upside as a pass catcher.
Sadiq is a difference-maker with the speed and athleticism to create mismatches all over the field. He brings a dynamic element to the offense and has the type of receiving profile that fantasy managers want to chase at the tight end position.
First-round tight ends tend to have a strong hit rate in fantasy football, but the landing spot may cause him to slide down some rookie draft boards. I would still take the shot on him, especially with the hope that the Jets can eventually pair him with a higher-end quarterback in 2027.
I do not expect Sadiq to replicate the rookie tight end production we have seen over the last few seasons, but the long-term upside is absolutely there. As a rookie, he could finish as a high-end TE2 at best, but dynasty managers should be drafting him for what he could become long term rather than immediate production.
Projected Rookie Draft Selection: 1.06 – 1.09
Philadelphia Eagles – Makai Lemon WR (20th Pick)
The Eagles received a gift in Makai Lemon, who fell all the way to the 20th pick. With recent reports suggesting A.J. Brown could be gone after June 1st, it made perfect sense for Philadelphia to take a shot on a talented wide receiver. Lemon is a polished route runner who will likely operate heavily out of the slot at the next level. His ability after the catch makes him a dangerous YAC weapon and a strong fit for the Eagles’ offense alongside Jalen Hurts.
Lemon’s upside grows even more if A.J. Brown is officially moved. He could realistically provide high-end WR3 value as a rookie and may even outproduce Carnell Tate early depending on opportunity. His route-running and playmaking ability with the ball in his hands make him one of the more intriguing fantasy options in this class.
He should be a major target in rookie drafts because of both his immediate opportunity and long-term upside in a strong offensive system.
Projected Rookie Draft Selection: 1.02 – 1.04
Cleveland Browns – KC Concepcion WR (24th Pick)
The Browns had a major need at wide receiver, and they decided to address it with their second first-round pick by selecting KC Concepcion. The rookie wideout brings big-play ability and an electric style to his game. Early in his career, he can contribute as a return man while eventually growing into the team’s primary slot receiver.
Cleveland only had one receiver finish with over 50 targets last season, so Concepcion could quickly step in as the No. 2 option in the passing game. His ability underneath and after the catch gives the Browns a much-needed weapon regardless of who is playing quarterback.
This was not the landing spot many expected for him, but it could still work out well long term. He may start off quietly as a rookie and be more of a slow-burn dynasty asset, but there is a strong chance he becomes more productive later in the season once his role expands.
He is still firmly in the Round 1 conversation for rookie drafts, though he may no longer feel locked into that 1.06 range like many expected before the NFL Draft.
Projected Rookie Draft Selection: 1.07 – 1.11
New York Jets – Omar Cooper Jr. WR (30th Pick)
The Jets traded back into the first round and selected wide receiver Omar Cooper Jr. with the 30th pick. It was an interesting move considering New York had already invested in another skill-position player earlier in the draft, but Cooper Jr. brings explosive playmaking ability that adds another dynamic element to the offense.
He has the versatility and speed to line up in the slot while also creating big plays after the catch. His athletic profile gives the Jets another weapon they can move around the field, and he could also contribute in the return game early in his career.
Cooper likely will not be a top-40 fantasy receiver as a rookie. Playing with Geno Smith and likely sitting third on the depth chart in targets limits his immediate ceiling. However, he should flash during his rookie season, and much like Kenyon Sadiq, he feels like a player more likely to break out in Year 2 rather than right away.
He remains a first-round rookie draft pick, though likely a few spots later than originally expected before the NFL Draft.
Projected Rookie Draft Selection: 1.09 – 1.12
Seattle Seahawks – Jadarian Price RB (32nd Pick)
We all knew the Seahawks had a major hole at running back with Kenneth Walker gone and Zach Charbonnet dealing with injuries. They addressed that need by selecting Jadarian Price with the final pick of the first round. Price comes into the NFL with less wear on his tires after serving as the backup to Jeremiyah Love at Notre Dame. He offers a strong combination of size and speed and has the skill set to develop into a reliable three-down back at the next level.
Price will likely compete with Emanuel Wilson early in the season while Charbonnet recovers from injury. That creates a real opportunity for him to get off to a hot start as a rookie and potentially handle the bulk of the workload early on. Once Charbonnet returns, the backfield could shift closer to a 50/50 split, but Price should still maintain strong fantasy relevance.
First-round running backs tend to hold strong dynasty value long term, and Price just saw a major jump in his rookie draft stock because of both the draft capital and landing spot. The talent is there, and this should not be viewed as an overhyped selection.
