New York Giants among teams who could try to trade up

When tabled alongside Brandon Brown and others discussing Daniel Jones, Schoen made a comment that very much didn’t fly under the radar.

“The best predictor of the future is the past,” he said of Jones.

The Giants felt they needed to protect themselves given Jones’ injury history, which is a warranted statement. That’s all very obvious.

What got lost in the aftermath of episode 1 is how fans and media personalities questioned the Giants for sticking with Jones while also questioning their decision to let Barkley walk.

Why is that significant? Because, as Schoen said, the best predictor of the future is the past.

Barkley, like Jones, has a long history of serious injury and the same concern should be spread equally when considering the decisions that were ultimately made on each player.

Arguing that the Giants should have stuck with Barkley over Jones has its merit, but there should be balanced concern about Saquon’s ability to stay healthy not only long-term, but just for the season ahead.
